Milesight IoT Hardware
Industrial-grade routers, LoRaWAN gateways, and IoT sensors built for demanding field deployments. Stocked and supported in the UK by IoT UK.
About Milesight
Founded in 2011, headquartered in Xiamen, China.
Milesight develops industrial IoT hardware across three core product lines: the UR series of cellular routers, the UG series of LoRaWAN gateways, and the UC series of IoT controllers and sensors. Their products are deployed across utilities, smart cities, agriculture, and transport infrastructure worldwide.
The company is a member of the LoRa Alliance and maintains CE, FCC, RoHS, and REACH certification across its product range. Milesight hardware is designed for environments where consumer-grade equipment fails – steel enclosures, wide operating temperature ranges from -40 to +70 degrees Celsius, and support for industrial protocols including RS232, RS485, and Modbus.
Their DeviceHub cloud platform provides centralised remote management for deployed Milesight devices, covering configuration, firmware updates, and real-time diagnostics without requiring physical access to the hardware.

Where Milesight Fits
Common deployment scenarios across UK industrial and infrastructure sectors.
Utilities and Smart Metering
LoRaWAN gateways deployed across water, gas, and electricity networks to collect meter data over wide areas with minimal infrastructure. A single UG gateway covers up to 15km line-of-sight, making it practical for rural metering where cellular per-device costs are prohibitive.
Fleet and Asset Tracking
UR series routers provide primary cellular connectivity for vehicles and mobile assets, with dual SIM failover ensuring connectivity across network boundaries. Serial interfaces connect to CAN bus and legacy telematics systems without additional conversion hardware.
Building Automation
UC controllers and LoRaWAN sensors handle environmental monitoring, access control integration, and energy management across commercial buildings. The wide operating temperature range suits both plant rooms and external installations.
Agriculture and Environmental Monitoring
LoRaWAN sensor networks deployed across farmland, reservoirs, and nature reserves collect soil, water, and atmospheric data. Low power consumption means battery-operated sensors can run for years without maintenance.
Remote SCADA and Industrial Automation
UR routers with RS485 and Modbus support connect legacy industrial equipment to IP networks. VPN tunnels maintain secure communication between field equipment and central SCADA systems regardless of network provider.
Smart Cities and Public Infrastructure
Municipal deployments use Milesight LoRaWAN networks to monitor street lighting, waste bins, parking occupancy, and air quality. A single UG gateway can serve hundreds of low-power sensors across a town centre.
